Architectural firms compete to design Campsie RSL Redevelopment precinct

The Campsie RSL team has been busy working on detailed plans for the proposed redevelopment of the club into a multi-purpose, community precinct on the Anglo Road site in Campsie.

Since the lodgement of the Planning Proposal in November 2015, the club has been working on the preparation of a Development Application for the Stage 1 Works for the proposed new Campsie RSL.

Ahead of preparing the Development Application, Campsie RSL announced the undertaking of an architectural design competition that would allow selected architectural firms to submit their design concepts for the new club.

The proposed redevelopment of Campsie RSL aims to provide the Canterbury community with an expanded club facility, seniors living, retail, childcare facility and fitness centre, as well as basement car parking.

he voluntary design competition, which offered the opportunity to shape the future of one of Canterbury’s most prominent community locations, will ensure the redevelopment addresses all of these uses, whilst creating a high quality and functional precinct that remains sympathetic to the local surroundings.

The Campsie RSL project team is now assessing the final four architectural submissions before a winner is selected in the coming weeks.

Following the submission of the final concepts in the Architectural Design Competition, the club will host a community information and feedback session in April to showcase the final design for the new Campsie RSL development.
